Tips for Using This Mindfulness Visualisation

This exercise invites you to notice whatever is present - sensations, thoughts, or sounds - and gently place them onto leaves that float down a calm meandering stream in your mind's eye

Here's how I personally use it:

Start with body sensations - As I settle, I tune into my body.  If I feel tension or discomfort (like a tight neck or an awkward position), I imagine placing that sensation on a leaf and watching it drift downstream.  I then make any adjustments I need to feel more comfortable.

Let sounds become part of the practice - Rather than resisting background noise (like a lawnmower or a ticking clock), I notice it and gently place the sound or small image representing it on a leaf.  I watch it meander out of sight.  Some sounds - like birdsong - feel soothing, so might choose to let them stay.

Notice thoughts without judgement - when my mind begins to plan or analyse (e.g. thinking about my website or a client session), I simplify the thought into a word or phrase - like "planning" or "client call" and place it on a leaf.  It's not about stopping the thoughts, just creating space from them.

Include the pleasant too - If feelings like calm, spaciousness or stillness arise, I acknowledge them too.  I might place "calm" or "spaciousness" on a leaf and let it float gently down stream.  This helps reinforce the practice as a space for observing, not controlling.

Over time, this imagery can create a gentle but powerful shift in how you relate to your inner world.  The stream becomes a space of clarity, where everything is welcome - and everything can pass.

Whether you're curious about working with me or simply need a moment to reset, this gentle audio gives you a taste of the tools I use with clients.
