How Thoughts can Improve your Sleep?

The human mind is similar to a computer: it has its own software, which organises your thinking and behaviour.

Almost all human problems are caused by negative thoughts running in the unconscious mind. How often does a worrying thought keep you awake at night? Recent research shows that happiness levels are not fixed – increasing your happiness takes a small amount of regular effort, following simple instructions and using powerful psychological techniques.

When you are engaged in happy thoughts, your body is naturally more relaxed.  Research has shown that consciously thinking and feeling ‘happy thoughts’ of gratitude and joy, significantly improves not only the quality of your life, but your quality sleep.

So if you are suffering with negative, anxious or worrying thoughts and want to improve your sleep, explore your mind for a HAPPY thought.  A tip here is to think of anything that makes you feel HAPPY.  Begin with “I am so happy and grateful for………..” and fill in the blank.  Use your mind to activate all the FEELINGS of a HAPPY emotion IN YOUR BODY such as love, gratitude, joyful laughter, playfulness, adventure, freedom.

Alternatively, because the mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real and imagined, you can visualise yourself in a HAPPY scene with ALL your physical senses of vision, smell, taste, touch and hearing something you love.
