10 Tips to Power your Self-Belief & Self Esteem

Do you suffer with low self-worth or low self-esteem?

  1.  Criticism withers you.  Praise builds you up.  If you are hard on yourself or perfectionist you may frequently feel you are ‘not enough’.  Spend the next 21 days repeating over in your mind  “I am enough”   Write it on your mirror, everywhere to allow it to really sink in.  And don’t worry if you don’t believe it, with sufficient determination and repetition, your unconscious mind will eventually believe!
  2. Decide what you want and why?  Get really clear, as your ‘whys’ are your motivators that inspire you into action.
  3. Every morning choose one thing to appreciate about yourself, so that at the end of the year you have a long list of positives that feed your self esteem.
  4.  Reward yourself every day with something enjoyable to look forward to, such as a delicious breakfast after an early morning workout.
  5.  Forgive past mistakes and take forward only the positive learnings.
  6. Take the focus off yourself.   Look outside your current difficulties and explore how you can make a positive contribution to someone else, your wider community or world.   You can grow your self worth super fast with this powerful action.
  7. Become aware of your self talk.  Make the pictures and words you use in your mind encouraging.
  8. Flush out those pesky limiting beliefs and replace with perky pleasurable ones instead.
  9. If you feel you are unappreciated, give out appreciation even more.  Appreciating the best in others can encourage others to appreciate the best in you.
  10. Take constructive criticism practically but not personally.  Reject destructive criticism and use ‘constructive’ criticism to improve.

Why Meditate?

2015-03-12-07.40.38Why Meditate?  Meditation is not only for improving health, it will enhance your ability to feel more calm and confident.

The secret is to limit yourself to no more than one or two 10-15 minutes each day.  Set your phone timer or choose a guided meditation.  By restricting the time you do it, it will make you want to do it for longer.  Instead you can make it your special treat – a blissful ‘you time’ of tranquility and inner peace.

Science has proven that even a few minutes practice each day re-trains your hormones out of the ‘exhausting’ stress response. The cumulative benefits of mindfulness and meditation are now being used for peak performance throughout the world.

Your body is either in a state of ‘stress’, or ‘healing’ – never both!   So if you want all the amazing benefits of meditation, give me a call now.  07836 635233

How happy are you?

Happiness is a ‘general feeling’ that arises quite naturally as a result of thinking from a positive set of beliefs, thoughts and feelings.   Positive beliefs are essential for navigating life challenges with strength, courage and endurance.  Everyone will lose someone they love sooner or later… or they will leave someone they love.  Loss or the fear of loss underpins much unhappiness.

Relationships have always been significant for personal happiness, but have you ever considered your relationship with time? It is important to make peace with the past and simply yield to the future to embrace NOW.

Happiness can seem out of reach if you are struggling with day to day difficulties with a negative set of thought patterns from the past.  Momentum is key – the more consciously aware you become of how you are thinking, the less you will be affected by outside circumstances.

Are you critical, competitive and hard on yourself?  If you are, go a little easier on yourself and practice mindfulness compassion.

How can you start the day a little more positive?  If you don’t begin your day with a positive mindset, negative momentum will take hold and influence the day.   Science has proven that by actively searching out new positive ways of viewing the same things, you can flip your feelings into a better direction.

If you are going through a phase of feeling happy – allow yourself to enjoy it!  Momentum is King, so go for it!

Do you feel guilty feeling happy?  Are you punishing yourself for something?  Are you holding onto the past?  Are you willing to forgive yourself?  Sometimes happiness is just a decision away, so allow yourself to feel good.  It is not a goal to be put out into the future – Embrace NOW!

If you have been feeling depressed, go easy on yourself because you may only have access to feelings like relief.  Your pathway to happiness is to reach for anything that feels soothing…hope…acceptance…focusing on something like nature, sport, music, calm, tranquility.   Please ask for guidance.

So, having read the above, what simple action will you take today to create the kind of life that gives you a purposeful, peaceful, passionate HAPPY….and settle for nothing less!

Whist you are moving forward if you would like some help or guidance, I’d love to help you.

How to change anxiety to intuition

If you have created an exciting vision for your life that is fun enough to get you up in the morning with a leap 🙂  …and you still feel stuck, you may have become disconnected from your intuition.

Here are my simple steps to change anxiety to intuition

What is Intuition?   Your intuition is a kind of sixth sense, or gut instict, which will guide you towards things that help you to learn and grow along a successful path.  You have an intelectual intuition based on all your experiences and a spiritual intuition based on so much more.

What is Anxiety?  Anxiety is a negative fear habit of worrying about something that hasn’t yet happened and is probably never going to.  It zaps valuable energy by creating stress hormones that undermine the immune system.

Negative effects of Anxiety   Anxiety blocks performance by reducing creativity and concentration.

Anxiety shuts down your intuition as your intellect can be manipulated by fear.

You are wanting to move from a negatively focused ‘doubt’ mindset to a positively focused ‘confident’ mindset.

Meditation Practice   Quieten your mind – this is what ‘tunes’ you in.  Meditation is the gateway to detaching from your thought-stream so that you will have the space to STOP – PAUSE – LISTEN…to your intuition.

Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your thoughts and feelings in the present moment.

Your intuition is only accessible in the current moment.

Becoming aware of your breath leaving the tip of your nose can help to focus you in the moment.

You are attempting to listen to your inner voice of your spiritual intuition or spiritual guidance that is your inner truth.  Most of us grow up in an enviornment pleasing others with layer upon layer of adapting to the desire for approval from our family’s and peers.

Who am I?  Your inner being is ‘love, peace, harmony, joy.

Purpose   You will experience a great sense of purpose by making a positive difference by sharing a unique talent, gift or service’.  You will feel amazing if you find ways to experience these uplifting feelings.

Replacing anxiety with intuition

  1. Acceptance is the first step to moving away from anxiety.
  2. Replace negative ‘anxiety provoking’ questions for more positive ‘confident’ questions.  For example, plan to succeed.   Instead of “what if I fail?”  “what if I succeed?”
  3. Mindfulness meditation will help you to transform anxiety into intuition to find out what is most important to you and why?  What is your intuition asking you to pay attention to?

Now, are you ready to create the BEST chapter in your life?

10 Tips to a Healthier You

10 Tips to a Healthier You

1.  Find a new hobby that includes exercise.   Search for some form of exercise that you look forward to.  Experiment until you find a few things that you enjoy.  My personal favourites are:  Salsa dancing, Body Balance classes, Yoga, Body Pump, cycling, playing games with kids, a bit of skiing occasionally.

2. Choose foods that feel energising.   Before you choose something, stop, pause consider….  tune into your intuition….

Ask – Is this going to benefit me?”   Savour your meals slowly and deliberately.  Whatever you eat – make it count.  Practically every food has had something negative written about it!   You just can’t go there or it will drive you insane!   So don’t get hung up about how good or not it is!  If you decide it is good – it will be!

3. Easier still…Stop obsessing about food and find a new focus to absorb you.

4.  A helpful tip is to cut back on ‘mindless’ eating by choosing to only eat whilst sitting down in a relaxed setting.

5. Eating a little of what you fancy might work for you – it does for me.    However, long term exposure to eating ‘processed’ sugary or fatty foods are going to drain your energy.   Remember in Tip 2 – Think BEFORE you eat – “is this going to energise me?”  Little and often is preferable to huge meals that crash your energy.

6. Every time you give into a habit you are making it stronger. Ask the question:” is this food helping me to create positive habits?” If the answer is no – ask yourself, “do I really need this?”

7. Get creative. Move out of any ‘boring’ comfort zone’. Experiment with one brand new recipe each week, have fun with your food.  Include a little protein with each meal to stop your sugar levels, energy and moods crashing. I create 3 new recipes each week by receiving a box of salad ingredients with recipes from Abel & Co.

8. Stop eating when 3/4 full.  Get comfortable with leaving food on your plate.

9. As a guide, aim to eat 2-3 balanced meals with 2 smaller protein or fruit snacks. Make those meals more delicious by savouring each mouthful, deliberately and with complete mindfulness.

10. TV with adverts contain commercials that persuade you to eat junk and it is hypnotising you.  Advertisers know this, that is why they spend millions on adverts during peak viewing.  Instead spend the evening with something or someone you love – your family, pet, hobby, exercise, a good film (free from adverts) a new project, course or an uplifting book…with healthy happy feelings.  Take a look at my new book: 9 Simple Steps for Happiness, with quotes, quick tips and easy fun processes that help you to be a Healthier, Happier You!

Break the cycle of mood-swings, stress & hormonal-imbalances

Hormonal Imbalances:    Do you snap or shout at your loved ones?   Do you wage war or erupt like a volcano more often than you’d prefer?

Mood swings:  If your moods ignite with gusto, it could be that pushed down emotions such as anger, guilt or shame are the ‘hidden’ cause.  Fatigue, time pressures are also stressors that increase the likelihood of these outbusts.

Break the cycle of food cravings, too much sugar and stress

Food cravings  Cortisol is released in response to stress triggers.    A craving for sugar creates a cycle that eventually fatigues the adrenals with more mood swings.

Too much sugar causes blood sugar level fluctuations that crash energy casing further food cravings.

Too much stress creates cortisol, with any excess of this hormone being converted to sugar.   At this point, weight gain, skin and digestive sensitivities may arise.  Further stress causes food cravings and fatigue … so the cycle of hormonal imbalance continues….

Solution   With a willingness to change, you can break free from stressful behaviours.

If  you desire a new ’empowered’ way of living with choice over your moods, call +44(0)1843 846947, or call/text +44(0)7836 635233.   I’d love to help you.  Suzi x

Can Stress cause IBS?

Do you have IBS symptoms? Irritible Bowel Syndrome is a label used to describe bloating, stomach discomfort, constipation or diarrhoea.

Stress   IBS can be caused or aggravated by eating in a stressful frame of mind.  Enzymes are needed to digest your food and enzymes are blocked by the stress hormone cortisol.  Therefore stress leads to poor digestion, food intolerance, IBS and other imbalances.

Good feelings helps to create calm digestion.  Most people can think back to a ‘happy holiday’ with relaxed, calm feelings and remember that they were able to eat and drink all sorts of different foods that they would not have been able to at home.

If the gut has a memory so you can see how food intolerances, sensitivities, stomach bloating can be linked to stress.

Can you reset your gut memory?

Definitely.

How to create a calm comfortable gut?

1.  Re-programme gut memory with happy, calm feelings

2.  Re-programme your beliefs that support happy, calm feelings

3.  Re-programme your ‘triggers’ and ‘behaviours’ so that you can relax and enjoy a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes anything with good feelings.

Are you sensitive to stress or sugar?

Have you have become sensitive to stress or sugar?  Sugar is added to so many fast foods that you may have been consuming more than you realised.  In addition, stress has become a ‘normal’ state which contributes to extra sugar – hormone imbalance – cravings – more weight (especially round the middle) and more stress!

How can stress spike sugar levels in the blood? ~  Feeling pressured, overwhelmed or ‘not enough’ would do it.  Sleep deprivation is another serious stress affecting most parents!    Stress linked to  work pressures, not enough time, dissatisfaction with self,  body image, money worries, comparing self to others, feelings of ‘not enough’, unhappiness, anger,  frustration, guilt, blame….  consider now, what are your current stressors?

Rate yourself out of 10, with 10 feeling very stressed and 0 feeling neutral – how stressed have you felt over the last month?
Anything over 5 is too high.  Find one thing you can do to release this stress within the next few hours?

Do you have  fat around your middle but don’t know why?
This is another symptom of stress and food sensitivity, often caused by eating whilst stressed.

To find out how I can help you, get in touch with Suzi on 07836 635233 and leave your name, number and a brief message and you will be contacted within 48 hours.

“If you are insterested in learning more, read on…”

So why does stress cause sugar sensitivity?  Stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline spike sugar levels.  Your gut has a memory….so you may have become sensitive to sugar during this time without realising.  An explosive argument can be an approx equivalent of about 5 bars of chocolate.

Stress – Sugar Sensitivity – Weight gain ~  Stress not only causes your blood sugar levels to fluctuate, spike and gain weight.  The resulting crash in sugar causes sugar cravings, having you reach for the chocolate, carbs, sweets…All of this  is a core contributor to food intollerances, especially sugar sensitivity.

If that wasn’t enough, your gut makes associations  with the foods you are eating  to the ‘unhappy’ stress you are feeling and REMEMBERS….

Enzymes are needed to digest your food and enzymes are blocked by the stress hormone cortisol.  Stressful feelings = poor digestion, food intolerance, IBS …. more stress.  Good feelings = easy, comfortable, calm digestion.

Can you reset your gut memory?

Yes – definitely.

How to create a calm comfortable gut

1.  Re-map gut memory associated to stress

2.  Re-map your beliefs associated to stress

3.  Relax and enjoy a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes sugar, in fact anything with good feelings.

Are you coping with grief?

Are you struggling to cope with a stressful relationship breakup or death of a loved one?

Losing someone or something you love is very painful. After a significant loss, you may experience all kinds of difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger and guilt.  Sometimes it may feel like the sadness will never let up. As you deal with your loss, remember that  it’s important to be patient with yourself and allow the pain to pass.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice – your loved one would never want you to suffer.  We can get so locked into grieving and depression that it is easy to forget those who are living.

Loss is a personal trauma that can feel overwhelming.  It is helpful to allow your feelings to be whatever they are,  to just accept any emotions of guilt, anger, blame, regret and sorrow.

We begin the desparate road of asking non answerable questions, looking for all that we personally could have done differently. What others could or could not have done.  Prolonged emotional pain can change brain chemistry that leads to depression and isolation.  It is useful to distract yourself to keep your spirits up, but sooner or later you will benefit from getting making peace with your loss in whatever way helps you.
