3 Top Tips for Stress-relief

Anxiety-relief, Stress/Anger Management sessions are available in Birchington & Whitstable, Kent and Harley Street, London W1.

If you have been put off meditation in the past, I would prefer you read the following with an open mind.  In fact, I would prefer you to think of the following technique as a stress relief strategy.  Meditation isn’t just about slowing the brainwaves, it is conclusively proven to boost your energy and vitality significantly.  Hormones re-balance, mood improves and relationships improve.  Whilst quietening the mind for a few minutes each day, you will be able to look back at the cumulative benefits in surprising ways.   Occasionally a moment of bliss, an inspiration or a higher state of consciousness becomes available to you.  Higher states of consciousness simply feel like freedom…freedom from the mind’s usual identity, nagging fears and concerns.

Tip 1.  Releasing negative emotions:  Deep relaxation is possible for everyone.  Become aware of any uncomfortable feelings in your body.   Sit calmly with them in a state of acceptance as you allow them to release.  All emotions that feel uncomfortable are caused by disruptions in your energy system that you have the power to release.   If you just sit still with an intention to allow the emotion to pass… it will.

Tip 2.  Yoga Breath:  Take Three conscious breaths. Allow yourself to focus on your breath and just notice inhaling and exhaling through the nose.  Inhale…pause and exhale.  For the first three breaths, push your breath all the way out.   The breath out stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system to rest and relax.

Tip 3.   Taoist Meditation Technique:   This is a fun Taoist technique that I personally use a lot.  Direct your focus back into the centre of your brain as if looking out through that space between your eyebrows.  Imagine you are a little Buddha sitting crossed-legged on a bed of cushions in the centre of your brain behind your eyebrows.  This stimulates the pineal gland, responsible for higher states of conscious.  If thoughts intrude, repeat a mantra such as ‘release and let go’.

The body can only take so much tension and stress before the body gives you a warning.  There are now hundreds of scientifically documented benefits, too numerous to mention here, that recommend meditation to support and maintain vibrant health and wellbeing.

Testimony from David Lynch:  “It has given me effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity and happiness deep within.  This level of life is sometimes called “pure consciousness” And this level is deep within us all.”

Why Meditate?

2015-03-12-07.40.38Why Meditate?  Meditation is not only for improving health, it will enhance your ability to feel more calm and confident.

The secret is to limit yourself to no more than one or two 10-15 minutes each day.  Set your phone timer or choose a guided meditation.  By restricting the time you do it, it will make you want to do it for longer.  Instead you can make it your special treat – a blissful ‘you time’ of tranquility and inner peace.

Science has proven that even a few minutes practice each day re-trains your hormones out of the ‘exhausting’ stress response. The cumulative benefits of mindfulness and meditation are now being used for peak performance throughout the world.

Your body is either in a state of ‘stress’, or ‘healing’ – never both!   So if you want all the amazing benefits of meditation, give me a call now.  07836 635233

How to change anxiety to intuition

If you have created an exciting vision for your life that is fun enough to get you up in the morning with a leap 🙂  …and you still feel stuck, you may have become disconnected from your intuition.

Here are my simple steps to change anxiety to intuition

What is Intuition?   Your intuition is a kind of sixth sense, or gut instict, which will guide you towards things that help you to learn and grow along a successful path.  You have an intelectual intuition based on all your experiences and a spiritual intuition based on so much more.

What is Anxiety?  Anxiety is a negative fear habit of worrying about something that hasn’t yet happened and is probably never going to.  It zaps valuable energy by creating stress hormones that undermine the immune system.

Negative effects of Anxiety   Anxiety blocks performance by reducing creativity and concentration.

Anxiety shuts down your intuition as your intellect can be manipulated by fear.

You are wanting to move from a negatively focused ‘doubt’ mindset to a positively focused ‘confident’ mindset.

Meditation Practice   Quieten your mind – this is what ‘tunes’ you in.  Meditation is the gateway to detaching from your thought-stream so that you will have the space to STOP – PAUSE – LISTEN…to your intuition.

Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your thoughts and feelings in the present moment.

Your intuition is only accessible in the current moment.

Becoming aware of your breath leaving the tip of your nose can help to focus you in the moment.

You are attempting to listen to your inner voice of your spiritual intuition or spiritual guidance that is your inner truth.  Most of us grow up in an enviornment pleasing others with layer upon layer of adapting to the desire for approval from our family’s and peers.

Who am I?  Your inner being is ‘love, peace, harmony, joy.

Purpose   You will experience a great sense of purpose by making a positive difference by sharing a unique talent, gift or service’.  You will feel amazing if you find ways to experience these uplifting feelings.

Replacing anxiety with intuition

  1. Acceptance is the first step to moving away from anxiety.
  2. Replace negative ‘anxiety provoking’ questions for more positive ‘confident’ questions.  For example, plan to succeed.   Instead of “what if I fail?”  “what if I succeed?”
  3. Mindfulness meditation will help you to transform anxiety into intuition to find out what is most important to you and why?  What is your intuition asking you to pay attention to?

Now, are you ready to create the BEST chapter in your life?

10 Tips to Boost Positivity

“A Miracle is a shift in perspective”  Marianne Williamson

Changing just one negative belief to a positive belief can change your life”.     How do you think your life would improve if you believed ‘everything will turn out for the best’.   You may know someone who has the ability to turn any problem into a solution, any crisis or setback into an opportunity for reflection, greater awareness and even greater achievement, inner peace and happiness.   “All problems are problems of the imagination and all solutions are solutions of the imagination.” Christopher Howard

1. Mindfulness:  The following is an exercise that gives you power over your moods with control over your reactions.  If this is entirely new to you, have a little contest with your friends/colleagues, or just yourself:  The rules:  A whole day with no moaning, whinging, criticising, complaining.  No blaming, defending or excuses – Just enjoy with curiosity a ‘relaxing’ and very ‘interesting’ awareness.   Could be amusing?   Let me know how you get on…

2. Playful    When was the last time you played?  As a child?  Last year?   What would happen if you spent a whole day taking life much less seriously.  Try it and see.     There is a lovely little family saying: “those who play together, stay together.”  If you are a parent:  you will be giving your kids the best gift if you devote some time to play with them – it helps to find something that you can genuinely enjoy too.

3. Nature  Research published in 2013 in the journal Global Environmental Change, found that people are significantly happier in natural environments.   Look for ways to get out doors in the coming week – notice how much better you feel.

4. Chocolate  Swiss researchers found that eating 1.4 ounces of dark chocolate every day for two weeks reduced stress hormones, including cortisol, in people who were highly stressed.  If your weight is healthy and you have a friendly relationship with food, a little of what you fancy can be the perfect antidote to lifting your mood.

5. Music & Dance   Studies  in the Journal of Positive Psychology, reported students who listened to “happy” music, experienced elevations in mood.  Why do you think the shops and restaurants play music?  You can also lift your mood whilst dancing.  This is one of my personal favourites.

6. Happiness Notebook    Studies have found a strong correlation between feeling thankful and happiness.  This single task has been found to ease depression.   Choose anything you can genuinely be thankful for,  as research has proven that in as little as 21 days this habit will positively affect your mood.   An attitude of gratitude is one of the key ingredients to increasing happy feeling hormones.

7. Take 10 ~Are you Feeling irritable? It could be a sign of sleep deprivation, or stressful habits.    Just 15 minutes of meditation will improve your mood.

8. Volunteer/Helping Others  Researchers from the University of Exeter found that volunteering and helping others can boost happiness, ease depression and create fulfilment.   People feel healthier and happier when they are making a positive difference.  Self worth also improves.

9. Brighter Side    Looking at the ‘sunny’ side of a situation can change everything. It’s your perspective that predicts whether you will be a happy or a lonely bitter person.

10. Start something new – begin something/anything – just do something different!  When I feel overwhelmed – I declutter an area, my bag, or drawer. I might clean out my car or declutter my filing on my computer or clear my desk in my office. This method always gives me a boost of energy.

Always be learning something new – browse through U-Tube, begin a new fitness or dance class, a new book, discover a new hobby by trying a few things that trigger your interest.  Turn off the TV – GET ACTIVE experimenting with activities that interest you.
